Who can insure voluntarily
Anyone living in Poland not covered by compulsory insurance: a foreigner with a residence card, national visa or permit, a student, or a person without work.
How to sign the contract
- Apply at the NFZ branch for your place of residence (in Wrocław — Lower Silesian NFZ branch).
- Pay the additional fee if it applies.
- Register with ZUS (form ZUS ZZA) and pay the contribution monthly by the 15th.
- Add family members with form ZUS ZCNA.
When a private policy is better
If you mainly need insurance for a residence card and NFZ with the additional fee is expensive, a private medical policy may be cheaper. We'll compare both.
